The SU LGBTQ+ officer is responsible for developing and maintaining a vibrant LGBT community in college. She ensures that the college and SU provide equal opportunities for LGBTQ+ students in all aspects of their college experience, and represents these students in college and SU matters. She is concerned with the safety and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ students on and off campus, and is asked to assist victims of discrimination where possible and when requested. She keeps Lucians in touch with the uni-wide LGBT community, including any CUSU LGBT initiatives. The role is both influential and operational, focusing on both long-term development and hosting events to build an Lucy LGBTQ+ community.
